Prior to reading this book, we were required to do research. Doing this research helped me understand some background information about afganastan, where this book takes place, and other historical facts relating to this book. Going into this book, i was not thrilled about having to read a book about afganistan, considering historical assignments do not initialy catch my attention. Kite Runner however, after begining to read it, has not only grabbed my attention but has made me actually want to finish the novel.

At first, when I started reading The Kite Runner, I really couldn't get into it. After awhile, I started to get interested in it. This novel has a good story behind it. It is happy and sad at the same time. It made me sad about what happened to Hassan. I also thought it was sad when Ali and Hassan left Baba and Amir. I liked that they found a new life in America.

I like the book so far it's intersting. There is a lot of history filled in this novel which makes it even more intesrting. The pre-reading helped understand the relationships throughout the novel it shows the complex of the nation now and what has happened.

So far, in my own opinion, I actually really like this book. It is very interesting and is better than a lot of the books we read in High School. When I started to read it, I thought it started a little slow but then in my own my mind, it picked up a lot around page 70 where Hassan had a tramotizing event in his life. Hopefully it ends as well as it started.

This book is an interesting book. It is interesting to read about life in the middle east. We here about the war now but not the lifstyles and laws as much. The book is able to keep me engaged. At some parts the book is slow. Mainly at the begining. I am able to read this book throughly because I am interested in the main character. The author did a good job.

I think the book so far really hits off, from the beginning he really makes it so you are already in the book than rather leading up to something. Everything he talks about is so detailed and easy to understand when you read it. I like the book i think it will get better as we read on. Another way i could describe this book would be.......MAD PIFF!

The book so far has been alright. It is easy to read and pretty interesting. The beginning of the book was a little slow, but most books are anyway. I like the fact that it takes place in Afghanistan and I am learning about different cultures and religions while reading this book. Overall I would give the book a B+ so far.

I enjoy this novel so far because the simplicity in the reading. Other than the Farci language, I understand the writing very easily. It's a quick read but I take my time because I don't want to miss any details. The relationship between Baba and Amir is interesting to me since they are father and son but are absolute opposites. Also, I like how Baba and Ali's relationship is similar to Amir and Hassan's. It makes the characters relate more.
In addition to the structure and creativity in the novel, the pre-reading research did help me understand more. Without the research I would have been lost every time they talked about the culture, religion, etc.
I hope that the book continues holding my attention, as I've heard that it's done for people that have already read it.

My first reaction to the Kite Runner is very good, infact so far its one of my favorite in school reads. I think it is important to explore different cultures and through this novel we are able to do this. It is unbelievable the amount of violence Amir sees in his daily life.

While living in Afghanistan Amir and Baba seem to be of higher class. Baba drives a mustang and they live in a nice house. They are able to keep servants which is unusual for most Afghans. I am not crazy about Amir as a character, however Hassan's loyality is very refreshing. I also really like Baba's Generosity he seems to have a deeper meaning.

Through my prereading studies, I was able to learn about the diferent cultures and backgrounds of Afghans which help understand the whole culture a little bit better. I still find myself however looking up words and foods described in the book.

Overall I like this book a lot, and have heard very good things about it.

I'm not a big fan of kite runner. I think that the book is booring and there is not happening anything. And I don't get what the book is really about. Sure the plot is about Amir, but where is the deep and important stuff? I know every book don't need to have a serius meaning, but I think this is the kind of book that need one. And I don't think that Amir breaking up with his friend and servant when he was 13 is serius enought. Of course the rape and all that fallows is serius, but that's stuff that happens. No I don't get why this book has gotten so many prices, because I don't think it's good at all.
But sense I have to read it, I really hope that it gets better.

So far i think it is a good book. i think it would be better if it took place in a different area. i'm not a big fan of afghanastan, so if it took place in like china, i probably would like it any more. i think it has a good plot and a good set of characters, even though their names are confusing. i am glad that i started reading this book.
