Just for fun!
Post a comment and tell me what you think. Is it important for young students to be exposed to the ideas of classic literature in this way? Why/Why not?

Ha Ha, I thought it was a cute clip. I believe that it is a good idea to expose young children to famous and classical lietrature at young agesm, even through the Animaniacs. Later in their educational careers, even if they can only slightly recall a clip such as this one, it may help them. They may think light of it at the time, but it could be benefical in the long run.
I think that the involvement of classic works in popular culture is a driving force in keeping the story alive and "classic". As allusions to classics continue, the stories are passed down, and the allusions explained. The old Bugs Bunny cartoons intertwined classical music with ancient stories. Many people may only know of the cartoon version of the story, but the essence of the story will live on through decades and media change.
Huh, no one's commented yet. I feel kind of akward being the first one. I thought this was really funny. Next year just skip the whole book thing and show your classes this.

I definately think its important for little kids to be exposed to classics in this way because children just by nature get bored easily and on the whole are reading less and watching tv more, so if they can be exposed to classics like Hamlet in a way that they find enjoyable and interesting then it's a win-win situation: they get to watch a funny cartoon as well as getting educated without them even knowing it.
I think it's cute! It's kind of like what we do in class: read the play and then translate it into terms a 5-year-old would get!
It's definitely important to expose children to literature. From experience, I know that if I hear a reference or something I don't understand at one point [such as a quote from "Hamlet" mentioned on the Nickelodeon show "Zoey 101"], the work feels much more personal when I can relate it back to something I've already been exposed to and finally make sense of it. So even if little kids don't understand Shakespeare, they'll appreciate more once they finally do!

I think it is absolutely necessary to show students literature in various forms. It keeps them interested and gives them a new view, instead of just the text that some could find dry.
The clip itself was funny, and adorable! :)

I thought the clip was very entertaining! Even though little kids might not understand the language being used at times, watching it will help them relate the literature to their own culture, which will help them when they have to learn it later. It will keep the kids amused becuase it was comical.
Ha! This is one of my favorite Animaniacs clips. It's right up there with "Les Miseranimals!"
I think it's a great idea to expose kids to this stuff, even if it's silly. Yay cartoon literature!
FYI, The Simpsons also did a parody of Hamlet (it covers the whole play, inaccurately, in about 7 funny minutes).
I pretty much agree with everyone that it was a cute and entertaining clip, and that it is beneficial for children to see it. When I first saw this clip, it was hard for me to follow and understand what was going on, because I didn't read that part of the play yet. But, I still remembered the words, because they were said in such a memorable way. Later, when I came to that part in the play, I found that seeing the clip had helped me! I could associate it with something that I had seen before, and so I remembered and understood it even better!
Children who are exposed to literature in this way are more likely to remember it in the future. We should do this all the time :)
