Freshman Advisory is one of my favorite things here at high school. I was never an athletic student, so I always found myself involved with clubs and different organizations that worked to make school more interesting. I think that is why I like freshman advisory so much. I think it is a nice "break" to the regular school day. I like leaving my office and talking with students about their concerns and finding out what they think of NHS.
I know it is still new to many of our freshmen, and I know that some even thought the first day was "boring." I hope, however, that everyone will give it a chance and not be afraid to open up a little and try to have fun during advisory.
I would love to hear your opinions.
What do you think of advisory? How can it be improved?

I was able to ba apart of the "Trial Advisory" during my sophmore year and I absolutly loved it!!! I would always look forward to SSR on Tuesday and Thursday just because of advisory. LOVE IT!
Advisory is nice because it gives teachers and mentors an opportunity to get to know students they may otherwise never meet. I have only one suggestion: once the Advisory Olympics begin, perhaps the Electric Newt Squad should only receive a .5 point for every point their opponents receive, reducing their obvious dominance and creating a more level field of competition. -Archduke Electric
Advisory is a great idea- I wish I had it when I was a freshman! Unfortunately, It is obvious that some of the freshman do not find it as exciting as some of us mentors do. I think, to prevent or stop this from happening, that it is important for mentors to create a welcoming environment for the freshman, and also to make it obvious that as mentors we are here to help them and not "teach" them. Once both freshman and mentors warm up to eachother, it can be a really fun time and a great way to meet new friends!

I, like Rebecca, was involved in the Guinea Pig Program! It was so much fun! You'd be surprised at the questions our freshmen ask us! The kids are really opening up. Today we did human knot! They were ready for it, and completed the task until two minutes. I was in awe! Maybe Traffic Jam will be soon?! Great job Mrs. Lafayette!
We also did the human knot, and while they had fun doing it, I had to laugh at how they all ran to the hand sanitizer when we were finished! It's good to know our freshmen are so hygiene conscious!
